The Environmental Pollution
Environment means the natural world around us. Trees , animals , air , water etc are parts of the environment. Any harm done to environment is called pollution. Human activity is the main cause of environmental pollution.
Environmental pollution can be divided into four forms. They are land pollution , water pollution , air pollution and sound pollution. Our environment is being destroyed in all these four forms.
There are many reasons for environmental pollution. Human activities play a key role in destroying the environment. The rapid increase of population ,automatically, paves the way for environmental pollution. That is because then human needs also increase. When man tries to satisfy his basic human needs such as food , clothes and homes damage to environment cannot be prevented.
People carelessly dispose industrial waste. They pollute land , water and air. They pose a huge threat to both human and animal life. Cancer , respiratory diseases , dengue etc are some of the dangerous diseases man gets as a result of environment pollution.
War is another cause of environmental pollution. Man uses different chemicals and radioactive matter in warfare. They silently kill a large number of people and animals. Some animals are threatened with extinction as a result of environmental pollution.
The younger generation must be educated on the harmful effects of environmental pollution. They must be enlightened on the measures that could be taken to prevent pollution. The authorities also have a key role to play in protecting environment. They can introduce new rules and regulations to prevent environmental pollution.
Destroying environment means killing ourselves. Therefore every human being on earth has a mammoth responsibility in protecting our environment.

Say no to polythene
Polythene has become one of the major environmental issues in the modern world. It is one of the biggest threats to the ecosystem. Ironically, despite the threats polythene poses to the environment people continue to use it. The benefits of polythene are only momentary.
Polythene is not a biodegradable matter. In other words polythene does not decay. With time, it only breaks into tiny particles and vanishes into the soil. Polythene remains in the environment creating many problems for both man and animal. We can see polythene almost everywhere on earth. They pollute parks , beaches , rivers etc.
Polythene is found to have an adverse effect on human life. The chemicals used to make different types of polythene cause cancer and many other complications in the body. They pose a threat to animals, too. Burning polythene creates harmful gases. They are harmful to all the living beings.
People dump polythene carelessly. This causes land pollution and soil infertility. Polythene blocks the sewage systems in the cities and creates floods. They pollute the water ways, too. Polythene creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
There must be a strict control on polythene. The government policy makers must take steps to introduce rules and regulations with regard to the use of polythene. People must be encouraged to use reusable bags. The 4 R system is another solution : Reduce , Reuse , Refuse and Recycle. The younger generation must be educated on the use of polythene.
The threats caused by polythene must properly be understood.
